Este 13 de marzo se cumplen 41 años de la revolución socialista liderada por el Movimiento Nueva Joya en Granada. Cuatro años después, la isla era invadida por Estados Unidos.
Maurice Bishop asumió el mando en el país y estableció un fuerte vínculo con Cuba, hecho que enojo a EE.UU. ya que antes de la revolución , la isla era una aliado de Washington.
El 25 de octubre de 1983, bajo la operación Furia Urgente, Estados Unidos invadió por aire y agua la isla y poniendo fin a la segunda experiencia socialista en el Caribe desde la Revolución Cubana de 1959.
